Context, issues : In the limits of a cooperative project, the 3 social centers of the Romans’ city would like to facilitate the accessibility to a healthy and local eating for the family, especially those in precarious situation. The project of mobile and solidary cannery is developed thanks to the help of an equipped vehicle. The goal is to collect and valorise quality vegetables and fruits , disqualified or in the extra produced by the farmers of the short circuit of the rural and agricultural of the territory’s agglomeration, and at the same time allows people to cook them and to transform them into cans.
The Mobile and Solidary Cannery is based on a participative pedagogy and governance which allow inhabitants to be at the core of the project.
Goals : 1. Experiment the transformation with the locals with the creation of a small itinerant cannery by developing a range of recipes.
2. Change the eating and consummation habits of the locals, especially those in precarity situation.
3. Create a pedagogy and governance based on a participatory mode associating farmers and consumers, and, if possible, imagine a fair economic model.
4. Reinforce the countryside-town link between locals, consumers, farmers and other local actors involved by showcasing the short circuit and the products’ quality.
Targeted audience : Famillty of the Roman's city, in particular those in precarity situation
Actions implemented : Concretely we collect food from farmers and transform it in the village or districts promoting the social link.
The kitchen truck is set-up in public places, districts or village’s centers, during event such as the market, to let locals directly try the food transformation, creating recipes and selling the food.
Cans realized are partially given to the people creating them, on the base of the price of a glass jar (that can be reused) and the other part will be sold in the buying group in the social centers (at a reasonable price)
