Digital platform for direct sale of food and agricultural products, linking producers and consumers

Goals

Allow Hungarian producers to sell their products quickly and efficiently,
- thus contributing to the growth of agriculture and the food industry,
- ensuring the continuity of the food supply
- strengthening short circuits for food.

Contexte (territory issues, targeted audience)

The Hungarian food economy is provided by around 174,000 rural companies, most of which are under the age of 10 and / or self-employed (independant).

During the coronavirus epidemic, maintaining the stable functioning of Hungarian agriculture and the food industry, and therefore the continuity of the food supply, is a priority for the government. The objective is to maintain food production capacities and strengthen epidemiological control, thereby preserving food security and the export potential.

Actions implemented

In order to link market supply and demand, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Herman Ottó Nonprofit Ltd. Institute and the Hungarian National Rural Network have launched a digital platform to facilitate direct sales and networking for producers and consumers.

The website is easy to use, after a short registration, producers can upload their food products. And buyers can easily search for the nearly 600 products currently offered by more than 200 producers based on several criteria. Buyers can choose between producers and products by card or by category
